Unsurprisingly, Tomas Plekanec has been named captain of the Czech Republic team at the upcoming Winter Olympic Games held in February. In Sochi, Russia, the veteran centerman will make his second Olympic appearance since debuting for his home country in Vancouver in 2010. There, Plekanec amassed two goals and one assist in five games, helping his side to a quarter-final berth. He becomes the third Hab to receive a coveted invitation to the Winter Games, after Max Pacioretty and Raphael Diaz were selected to represent the United States and Switzerland respectively.
