- Before heading to the 2012 NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft, captain Zdeno Chara and assistant captain Joffrey Lupul fielded a few questions from the media about their Draft strategy. Like any good general manager, Chara planned to pick the best player available. According to the Bruins captain, “Usually they say you have a strategy until the first guy is picked and then it all goes out the window. You try not to pick all right-wingers or something like that but everyone is a good player.”

- Having visited the White House to celebrate their Stanley Cup Championship last week conspicuously missing their All-Star goaltender, Chara’s comment about not wanting to draft all right-wingers was met with some playful ribbing from one member of the media, who asked, “Does that mean you won’t be picking Tim Thomas?” in reference to Thomas’ far right-leaning political views. 

There will be no shortage of Sens on Team Alfredsson if the 39-year-old captain gets his way.

- Hitting up the pre-Draft media availability alongside fellow Sens All-Stars Jason Spezza, Milan Michalek and Erik Karlsson, captain Daniel Alfredsson played coy about his Draft strategy. The 39-year-old Swede eventually admitted he’d love to see Ottawa’s All-Star contingent playing for the same team on Sunday but when asked if any of them would be upset if Alfie didn’t pick them, Spezza replied, “I think we’d all prefer to play with him, but it’s his preference. He’s the boss.” Karlsson was slightly less diplomatic with his views, jokingly adding, “I would be pissed.”
