Sunrise - December 29, 2013
Spending time in Florida during the holiday season is always special. Snowbirds are everywhere. While you’ll often hear French being spoken on the streets, at the beach and in local shopping malls, the place to best see the thousands upon thousands of Quebecers who’ve made the trip to the Sunshine State is at the BB&T Center when the Canadiens are in town. It’s a veritable sea of Habs jerseys in the stands as fans flock to Sunrise to cheer on their beloved team.
Because Canadiens fans frequent the BB&T Center at this time of year, the Panthers know full well their best clients are likely to be Quebecers seeking the warm weather that South Florida has to offer. For that reason, one of the arena's boutiques stocks a veritable treasure trove of Habs gear for fans of the bleu-blanc-rouge and Panther fans who might be thinking about changing their allegiance to the CH.
Not only can Habs fans purchase Canadiens merchandise at the BB&T Center, but they can also feel even more at home with the opening of a Tim Hortons stand at the rink. This Canadian staple opened on Dec. 14, and it was installed in a seemingly perfect location. While downing a cup of coffee when it’s 30 degrees Celsius outside might not seem ideal, there’s nothing better than drinking one while cheering on your favorite team in a cold arena.
