The Bulldogs took on the Americans in the first match of a home-and-away series between the clubs. After falling behind 2-0 heading into the game’s third frame, the Bulldogs managed to force overtime and eventually a shootout thanks to goals from Brendan Gallagher and Darryl Boyce. Unfortunately, the Hamilton squad would walk away with just a single point for their efforts after all three Americans’ shooters beat goaltender Robert Mayer, while the Bulldogs scored only once.
